Most useful Email Alerts Services one should exploit

Useful Email Alerts Services
Let us discus and present the complete list of the best available email alert services that one should utilize to help in monitoring every possible detail on the web through email notifications.

Google Alerts are generally used for tracking anything new on the web but interestingly, there exists a plethora of certain other e-mail alerting services that are at the same time very useful and totally free of cost. Discussed below are some of them:
Follow your World –The Google service that helps in tracking satellite images of different locations within Google earth and Google Maps. An email alert is provided each time Google releases updated and new aerial imagery for the various locations needed to be tracked.

Brook – Twitter timeline is usually a never-ending array of tweets and sometimes better tweets get lost in the noise. Brooks’s service sends a daily email digest of five best tweets from one’s favorite tweeters so that he or she never misses what they say.

Domain Tools –Web domains can be monitored in this service, which alerts via email about any domain nearing expiration, when they are to be renewed or whether there is any major changes to be made in the records of the domain. Anything and everything about websites can be known by exploring more tools.

Visual Ping –An area can be visually marked on any web page and an email alert will be sent by Visual Ping when the web page changes. The trigger to go can be set only when there are major and important modifications to the page.

Newsle -News websites are tracked by this service and it alerts when any of the friends or people in one’s social network appear in news stories. It examines one’s Facebook and LinkedIn accounts to determine the friends and colleagues.

Book Alerts –The search feature of the Amazon can be used to track the release of any upcoming books by just entering the publication date of the book somewhere in the future.

Earthquake Alerts –A free earthquake notification is providing the USGS website service that sends email alerts when earthquake are reported in an area. Information about any seismic activity around a particular area can be obtained by marking the area on Google Map and the service will notify of any possibility.

Follow-up Gmail – The “starred” folder of Gmail is usually a dumping ground of email messages that require follow-up. A daily digest of 10 random messages picked from the starred items is sent by this Google Script, which may require follow-up.

Wikipedia Watch – This website sends email notification when the contents of any pages/articles kept in one’ Wikpedia watchlist has been edited. The changes may also be available as RSS feeds.

Timehop – Timehop is available as an app for Android and iOS devices. Every morning an email with a status update or photograph that may have been published on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram a year ago can be received.

Talkwalker – This helps in getting email alerts when one’s name, brand or website is mentioned in news stories, forums, websites, etc. This may be considered as a better alternative to Google Alerts.

IFTTT – This popular service offers several email alerts rolled into one. Alerts for severe weather conditions, notification about stock price fluctuations, monitoring of Craigslist and etc. can be achieved through this service.

Mention – While mentioning of websites is tracked by Google Alerts, the social media websites and commenting platforms, Disqus for example, are monitored by the Mention service for one’s search terms. Also, only freshly-baked content that has been published in the past 24 hours is monitored.

Mouse Lock –Monitoring of one’s unattended computer can be achieved through this unique service that sends an email alert with the picture of the person who might have tried to use the computer in his or her absence.

Amazon Price Tracker – Daily email alerts of the price of chosen items available on the Amazon website can be monitored items if the price goes up or down.

How to find high resolution good quality images for free

High-quality images raise visual interest to your website. Web page with good quality photos gets better engagement when shared on social sites like Facebook or Twitter.

Free High Quality Image download

The web offers a huge number of  images just a Google search away. The photos that are licensed under the Creative Commons license or in the public domain can be used without any copyright issues.

The only obstacle is that Google may not always provide free content that is best. The free listings may lose out as their algorithms for image search prefer pages from premium stock photography websites. Listed below are some of the best websites, where you may find high-quality images for free if Google isn’t helping in your search for photos:

  • google.com (LIFE) – The Google image website provides millions of historical photos from the LIFE library. You can add source: life to any photos in Google image and get them free for non-commercial and personal use.

  • flickr.com (The British Library) – The National library of UK encourages re-use of over a million vintage images that they scanned and uploaded to Flickr that are now in the public domain.

  • unsplash.com (Unsplash) – This is one of my favorite websites for downloading high-resolution photographs. 10 photos every 10 days can be obtained by subscribing to the email newsletter. All images are CC0 licensed i.e. they are in the free public domain and can be used in every way.

  • pixabay.com (Pixabay) –Images on Pixabay are CC0 licensed and thus can be used anywhere. Like Flickr, there’s also an option to browse photographs by camera model.

  • publicdomainarchive.com (Public Domain Archive) – This is an impressive online repository of public domain images that categorically organized. High quality photos are available, though the collection is limited at this time.

  • picjubmo.com (Picjumbo) –Exceptionally high-quality photos are available here for commercial and personal use. The site owner himself shot the photos and all he need is proper attribution.

  • commons.wikimedia.org (Wikimedia Commons) –21+ million images public domain or under some kind of free license are hosted by the site. The images are generally arranged categorically or can be obtained by searching the keywords.

  • nos.twnsnd.co (New Old Stock) –Curated collection of vintage photographs from public archives are available here that are needed no copyright restrictions. This might be a good source for images if you want to create a twitter feed like @HistoricalPics.

  • superfamous.com (Super Famous) – This is another great resource where you can  find high-res images for your design projects and websites. The images are Creative Commons licensed and need attribution.

  • raumrot.com (Raumrot) – Beautiful, hi-res 300DPI stock photographs are featured on this site available for both personal and commercial use. The pictures come under Creative Commons and are sorted by subjects.

  • freeimages.com (Stock Exchange) –One of the biggest repositories of free images and graphics that can be used for almost every purpose, however sign-in is needed to download the images. The site was previously hosted on the schx.hu domain, but now a part of Getty Images.

How to shield your own photos from getting copied

  • gettyimages.com (Getty Images) –Looking for professional images for your website without the expensive license fee? Getty has something in store for you. Get pictures embedded from Getty Images for free on your website, though the embeds may carry few ads in future.

  • imcreator.com (IM Free) – A curated collection of outstandingly high-quality images on every subject are available that are also free for commercial use. The images require attribution since most of them have been sourced from Flickr.

Facebook Launches New Features for Slingshot

Facebook has launched a new feature to its application Slingshot. The App gets the new version which lets you to a “Reaction to the Reaction” respond, with no need to unlock the inward message.
The first version was launched a month ago and this is the first update of the system with many new exciting features which also include “Chain Reaction” of messages. This allows users to keep away from using “Reply to Unlock” system.
One can download Slingshot 1.1 here (for iOS) and here (for Android).
In Slingshot you can only show a message if the user, conveys a response in the form of text, photo or video. After this you can either make a response or delete the message. Since it is necessary to again unlock the new message the exchange ends at this point. However, the new update will now allow users to get the benefit of the new feature, “reactions-to-reactions” to commence a typical conversation without further “unlock”.
This feature has one drawback in terms of growth of the application as the response swap remains limited between two users.
The friend search option has also been simplified with the introduction of My People and you can easily invite your Facebook friends or Phonebook contacts.
